Founded in 1750 in Derby, England, Royal Crown Derby is one of Britain’s most historic porcelain manufacturers. Artist Andrew Planche established the original china works, later joining forces with William Duesbury, whose expertise in decoration helped establish the company’s reputation for exceptional fine bone china.
Royal Crown Derby's royal connection began with a commemorative piece for King George III's coronation in 1761 and that it has supplied every British monarch since George III.
Over the centuries, the company became celebrated for its hand-painted designs, intricate gilding, jewelling, and exceptional craftsmanship. Its historic patterns include the iconic Old Imari, first recorded in the company’s pattern books in 1882 and still produced today.
Royal Crown Derby has also been part of some of Britain’s most notable stories. In 1911, the company was commissioned to supply first-class tableware for the RMS Titanic, with the historic pattern continuing to be produced today.
Today, Royal Crown Derby continues to create luxury fine bone china in England, combining centuries of British craftsmanship with contemporary design. Its heritage is not simply preserved—it continues to inspire beautifully crafted tableware for generations to come.
